d-fend, being oficially dumped by its creator, is actually compatible with dosbox 0.72... that took me by surprise...

Also, might want to look at downloading some old "Glide Wrappers." They are still available on internet. they emulate old 3dfx cards, and with your cpukill, i've been wearing out carmageddon 2.
