Game review

One of the true RPGs ever made. I say this for the simple reason that fighting is not everything, unlike in most RPGs. The game is set in a post world war 3 america, so, as you can probably guess, the world is quite the wasteland. You have spent your life living in what is know as a Vault, basically a large, underground bomb shelter that can support many families. Your primary quest is to retrieve a replacement for the water purification chip, which was somehow damaged (you find out in Fallout 2, in one of the random encounters).
The gameplay is rather tedious in most cases. The battle system is turn based, with each character having a set amount of action points, or AP. Put simply, walking around, attacking, looting corpses, opening doors etc. will use up AP. The fairly large number of skills you can have like small and large guns, which effect efficiency with handguns, shotguns, rifles, and rocket launchers gatling guns respectively. Along with skills like First Aid, Steal, and gambling make for quite the customization. Most of your travel will be on the world map, a large map where you can see current location and cities you have been to/told about.
The graphics are very good for its time, much like EverQuest, without being so digital.
Sounds are rather simple. Guns go bang, rockets go boom, people scream when they die, etc. The soundtrack is nothing much so personally i suggest listening to your own music.
The replay value, as in most RPGs, is very high. With the many things you can do, and ways you can do it (for example, someone has a dog preventing him from entering his house. You can kill the dog, give it food so it will follow you, or "solve his problem" by killing him =) ).
All in all a good game. With its many skills and two main tracks (good or evil) this is quite the interesting game, especially if you get a critical hit and kill someone with the sniper rifle . Good luck, happy hunting, and "may the water you find not glow at you in the dark."

Amazing series and amazing game. The creativity is astounding. The whole series is amazing. I personally like the New Vegas addition much better then the Fallout 3 due to a really good story and its close enough to the original vaults to call home.

I got into the Fallout franchise after i started playing Fallout 3 (BEST RPG EVER), and I gotta say, why wasn't this franchise brought back sooner? It's truly one of the best franchises ever made.

Viet82, this game is a Windows game, DOSbox is a dos emulator. Use a windows emulator unless you have windows, then just play it.
Anyway, this is certainly one of the top picks for greatest game of all time, it's deep, fun, unique and almost infinitely replayable. |

I love Fallout 3. but because of the choices it lets you make. wether you are good or evil, fighter in all forms or a scavenger that uses technology to find items and if you want to fight in real-time or use the VATS (Vaultech Assisted Targeting Sytem). its freaking amazing
