The endless hours I've spend on playing Skyroads, the sequal to this unique game.Played all levels through and through. I was a real junky, and didn't want to do anything else.Only 5 years ago, I found out about this gem. Full of excitement I downloaded it from the official site. "Finnally, a breath of fresh air. New levels!", where my only thoughts. Open file...Extract...HURRY!I ran the game with a body full of adrenaline, and there it was. My mind was litterally blown away by nostalgia and excitement.Although the graphics weren't the very best (although it features some nice EGA artwork), and the sound is nothing more but speaker bleeping, it had a certain feel and charm to it. I still needed to get used to the rusty feel, in comparison to the fluid Skyroads, that I played way to much, but sooner or later I forgot all about that and enjoyed at full capacity. The game was entirelly different to skyroads, as in style and feel, but not in a bad way. I really got the feeling there was nothing out there except me,a road and the stars, this gave me a very serene and peacefull feel, until, I jumped on an "obstacle", witch was something essential in the sequal. But,no,not here. I jumpen on and I exploded. Followed by the message "Trying to catch low flying UFO's?". Like its not bad enough I had to start the level all over again, the game is now insulting me. Somethings way supperior to Skyroads are:

*Checkpoint system. When you're on the middle of your journey, you can start from there. In skyroads, when you die, you start all over again, witch is a pain when you see the end, but suddenly explode.

*Level design. I always thought skyroad's level design couldn't get any better. Nice use of hypnotic patterns and nice colours, and the calculations of platform placement was just perfect and challeging. However, Kosmonaut beats skyroads in that department. And how! I just can't explain how utterly brilliant the levels are.

*Highscore system. The one thing skyroads always missed. The ability to score. Not only is it fun to brag about how you have no life, and you play with a jumping car all day, but, also that levels can be played over and over again without having to feel that what you're doing its useless (which it still is if you think about it...)

Somethings Skyroads is way suppirior in are:

Music. Yes, the music of skyroads still gives me goosebumps. And as for Kosmonaut, it doesn't have any. Unless you count the TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR at the beginning. Then, yeah, it has music, but nothing of real value.

Sound. Although music could fall under this catagory, I'm not going to. The sound effects of kosmonaut are anoying. There is a constant RRRRRRR in the background, witch is supposed to be the engine, I guess, and when you die,you hear a short *thump* and then there is a 5 second silence. What a relief. Press the S key as soon asanossible. It will save you a headaeck.
