The NES release has a couple of changes. The game was made for the general audiences.

The game where it all started. LucasArts, known then as LucasFilm Games, made many classic adventure games, and this is one of the first. The system was called SCUMM (SCript Utility for Maniac Mansion) and was used in most subsequent Lucas games such as the legendary Monkey Island series.
