Game review

After developing the great Duke Nukem, 1993 A.D. Apogee sent another cool gunslinging action hero on a monster-hunt-killing-spree. And this time it really is a killing spree, along with blood, gore and guts popping out of the bodies of the mutant-scum. But first things first...
Graphics:
Well, what do you expect? The game was developed thirteen years ago. 320*240-with-16-colors-stuff. Nevertheless it doesn't look awful. The mutant-types are designed very nicely, the background-graphics maybe a bit boring, but suitable to the rest of the game. Blood-effects may be a bit overdone, but hey, what can one say about a little gore now and then?
Sound:
I never could get the Sound Blaster running, so I am only able to comment on the PC-Speaker-sound. Well, it's PC-Speaker-sound. That's about all. Some jumping- and fiering-sounds... I'd say very standard.
Gameplay:
The input works very nice and even if there is not much of a variation during the different levels it still is fun running around, blasting mutants and throwing grenades at more of this scum. There are several power-ups like different ammunition-types for your machinegun, different grenades and even a robot-friend who flies around you and fires at enemies. The bosses are quite challenging like the first boss, a huge blue guy with a giant brain and flying hands and from time to time there are bonus-stages where you can gather extra-lives and stuff like that.
Conclusion:
Bio Menace is a cool little action-jump&run-game with some (very few) adventure elements which stick to finding the keycard or something like this. It doesn't require much brains, but the controlls work nicely so you won't be frustrated while playing this games. All in all enjoyable, though you won't play it for several days. Well, what's else to say? Maybe: Come on, soldier. Grab a gun and go hunting.

I don´t like EGA-graphics but those in BioMenace were pretty nice. All in one this game is really good.
