Civilization - Cheats, Glitches and Secrets
|
Cheat Menu:
If you have version 1 (that is, if your game says version 474.01 or 475.01 when you start it up), hit shift-56. It will reveal the entire map and give you a variety of cheat options in the F1-F10 menus. You can enter enemy cities, sell their city walls, and then unfortify the defense
F... Function in cheat mode
F1 Your enemies' military plans (A-Attack, D-Defend, S-Settle, N-Naval). It will even suggest some plans for you sometimes.
F3 Some wierd graphics. May be useful???
F7 Civilization breakdown showing government type, diplomatic status, population, treasury, tax rate, # of mil units, # of cities, # of settlers, amount of land (units unknown), and technology.
F8 Civilization PowerGraph + Replay. Even if you don't want to cheat (just press shift+56 immediately after exiting the replay option to avoid seeing the map), this is handy. It can show you how well you're doing.
F9 Some military thing, listed by continent. I prefer F1 or just scanning the map.
F10 Fully revealed map
Glitches:
You can make settlers build mines, roads, irrigation, etc. in one turn (instead of the normal 2 - 12). For example, make the settler unit build an irrigation. The turn moves on to another unit. Find your settler and click on it. Clear settler's orders and put them back to work (press I). Repeat these steps a few times until the desired advancement is built.
It is perfectly possible to build roads and railroads on the ocean by bringing a settler there with a boat. While they don't make ships move any faster, railroads *will* provide the usual 50% to all resources bonuses to ocean squares used by a nearby city.
Cheats:
Hold [Alt] then press R: Random Enemy Leaders
Some Secrets:
Sentry a unit in a city on its last turn, then go into the city and unsentry it. It will have all its moves back.
Build a space ship that is nothing but a habitation module and an engine, launch it, and even though it has 0% chance of success it will always succeed.
